Approximately 13,100 entries for the three contests came from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Many styles of needlework, quilting, patchwork, appliqué, and embroidery are represented in the visual materials. The collection also includes correspondence and surveys from some contestants and administrative files related to judging the entries, exhibitions, and publicity.</dc:description><dc:description>The Lands' End All-American Quilt Collection, Archive of Folk Culture, American Folklife Center, Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.</dc:description><dc:description>Lands' End, Inc.;</dc:description><dc:description>Collection guide available in the Folklife Reading Room and online via the American Folklife Center web pages.</dc:description><dc:subject>Quilts</dc:subject><dc:subject>Quilting</dc:subject><dc:subject>Quiltmakers</dc:subject><dc:subject>Album quilts</dc:subject><dc:subject>Appliqué</dc:subject><dc:subject>Children's quilts</dc:subject><dc:subject>Contests</dc:subject><dc:subject>Crazy quilts</dc:subject><dc:subject>Crib quilts</dc:subject><dc:subject>Double wedding ring quilts</dc:subject><dc:subject>Embroidery</dc:subject><dc:subject>Friendship quilts</dc:subject><dc:subject>Log cabin quilts</dc:subject><dc:subject>Machine appliqué</dc:subject><dc:subject>Needlework</dc:subject><dc:subject>Patchwork quilts</dc:subject><dc:subject>Star quilts</dc:subject><dc:subject>Strip quilting</dc:subject><dc:subject>Trapunto</dc:subject><dc:relation type="original">National and state winning entries from the three contests are available in the presentation "Quilts and Quiltmaking in America, 1978-1996," an American Memory online resource compiled by the National Digital Library Program of the Library of Congress.</dc:relation><dc:identifier>http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/qlthtml/qltle.html</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>http://www.loc.gov/folklife/guides/LandsEnd.html</dc:identifier><dc:rights>Duplication of the collection materials may be governed by copyright and other restrictions.</dc:rights></oai_dc:dc>
