Pachelbel, Johann, 1653-1706. Canon and gigue, violins (3), continuo, P. 37, D major
Special noteIn addition to documentary reasons for treating the Canon und Gigue as one work, they share the same key and a core musical idea. Further, there are numerous gigue movements in Pachelbel's suites, suggesting that the Canon und Gigue were possibly intended as parts of a larger work or are parts of a larger work now lost.
