| Biography/History note | Arthritis and Rheumatism Foundation was formed in 1948 to consolidate into a single organization the leading agencies in the attack on rheumatic conditions. Sponsored by the American Rheumatism Association in cooperation with the National Arthritis Research Foundation, the DetroitFund for Crippling Diseases and others. Objectives include surveys of the problem, graduate education of the medical profession, education of the public, research fellowships and improved care for those with rheumatic diseases. Local chapters cover the entire nation. Name was changed Oct. 1964 to Arthritis Foundation. |
