Author of heavily censored documentary novel "Babi Yar: a document in the form of a novel" in 1966 which chronicled the 800-day occupation of Kiev by the Nazis. Prior to his novel's publication, Anatoli worked as a contributor to factory newspapers. Wrote 4 novels following this one. Escaped from his KGB handler during a visit to London where he asked for political asylum. Died in exhile in London in 1979)
