Oxford Dictionary of Natonal Biography online, April 2, 2015 (Brydges, Sir (Samuel) Egerton, first baronet, styled thirteenth Baron Chandos (1762-1837), writer and genealogist, was born at Wootton Court, Wootton, between Canterbury and Dover, on 30 November 1762 ... was educated at Queens' College, Cambridge (October 1780-Christmas 1782) ... left without taking a degree, preferring the study of poetry in seclusion from his contemporaries ... entered the Middle Temple, London, in 1782 and was called to the bar in 1787, but never practised ... was elected a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 1795 ... became a founder member of that exclusive bibliographical society, the Roxburghe Club, in 1812 ... Brydges was enormously productive in republishing long-forgotten works of literature, particularly of the Tudor period ... died at Campagne Gros Jean, near Geneva, on 8 September 1837)
