Kentucky encyclopedia, ©1992: pages 85-86 (Francis Preston Blair, Sr., political leader and newspaper editor, was born in Abingdon, Virginia in 1791. His family moved to Kentucky. Studied law at Transylvania University until his graduation in 1811. Appointed circuit court clerk of Franklin County, Ky. then founded the “Washington Globe” and moved to Silver Springs, Maryland. Died October 19, 1876.)
