Biography/History noteCharles Dickens' The posthumous papers of the Pickwick Club was originally written as a serial and published in 19 issues over 20 months from March 1836 to October 1837. There was no issue in May 1837 as Dickens was in mourning for his sister-in-law. The work has become better known under the title The Pickwick papers.
