Encyc. of Ukraine: v 5, p. 872 (Zolochiv [Zoločiv]. A city on the Zolochivka River and a raion center in Lviv oblast. It was first mentioned in a document of 1442. In 1523 it was granted Magdeburg law status. In 1672 the Turks captured Zolochiv and raized it to the ground. After the partition of Poland in 1772, it was annexed by Austria, and served as a county center in Galicia. From 1919-1939 it was occupied by Poland)
