Dizionario biografico degli Italiani: volume 3, pages 257-258 (Anghiera, Pietro Martire d'; born at Arona on Lake Maggiore in the Piedmont region on February 2, 1457; was later named Anghiera after the nearby town of Angera (Anglería in Latin); he spent time in Milan and Rome; after meeting the Spanish ambassador in Rome, Anghiera accompanied him back to Spain in 1487 and soon became a notable figure among the Spanish humanists; he served on a diplomatic mission to Egypt in 1501; he died in Granada in September, 1526)
