Found inMozart, Wolfgang Amadeus. Oboenkonzert C-Dur, KV 314, ©2001: preface (written for Giuseppe Ferlendis, oboist of the Salzburg court chapel, finished at the very latest by September 22, 1777; Mannheim oboist Friedrich Ramm performed the concerto several times; despite detailed accounts of the concerto in the Mozart family correspondence, it was considered lost until Bernhard Paumgartner, in 1920, located an early set of manuscript parts in the archive of the Salzburg Mozarteum, practically identical with those of the D major flute concerto (K. 314) but in C major with oboe specified as the solo instrument; "at a stroke the work appeared in an entirely new light: the newly discovered piece was recognized to be the original version of a work previously known only as a flute concerto")
Köchel, 6. Aufl. (285d=314. Konzert für Flöte (Oboe?); in a letter to his father of February 14, 1778, Mozart spoke of two flute concertos that he wrote for H. De Jean; later he referred only to a single concerto; 285d is presumably the oboe concerto written for Ferlendis in 1777, apparently rewritten for De Jean by Mozart simply by transposing it from C major to D major, as he was pressed for time; the absence of the high register in the flute part is evidence of the oboe version having priority)
Grove music online, June 26, 2020 (K. 314=K.⁶ 285d, Concerto, C, ob/fl, ?Mannheim, early 1778; ?=K271k, also arr. fl, D, authenticity uncertain; sketch for ob 1777; K. 271k, Concerto, ob, Salzburg, 1777; mentioned in letter, February 14, 1778; ?lost, or K314/285d)
The Mozart compendium, 1990: page 270 (K. 271k(=314). Oboe concerto in C major, ?Salzburg, spring or summer 1777; composed for Giuseppe Ferlendis; according to Mozart's letters, played by Friedrich Ramm in Mannheim five times in 1778; transcribed that year as Flute concerto in D, K. 314 (285d); "elements of ob version, discovered Salzburg 1920, not free of suspicion regarding their authenticity")
