She was 97 and had been a longtime resident of West Palm Beach; voice teacher at Indiana University's music school; made distinguished professor of music in 1994. She was born Virginia Zehan on Oct. 21, 1925, in Solovastru, a Transylvanian village in the heart of Romania)
