African American National Biography, accessed June 24, 2015, via Oxford African American Studies Center database: (Jones, Leroy; jazz musician, trumpeter; born 20 February 1958 in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States; performed with the band at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and at the National Football League's Super Bowl VI (1972); formed and led the Hurricane Brass Band (1974); experience working with Leroy Bates and Hot Corp., Inc. (1976-1977) and Hollie Carmouche (1978-1980); appeared in the show One Mo' Time and led a quintet called New Orleans' Finest from (1980-1983); performed in the Netherlands with New Orleans' Finest (1982); toured Asia a few years later, and spent much of 1985 and 1986 in Singapore, playing with the Camelia Jazz Band (1985, 1986); featured with Harry Connick Jr.'s big band (1990-1994); appeared on records with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Dr. John, Lillian Boutte, John Boutte, the Spirit of New Orleans, and the Danish Radio Big Band, among many; member of the New Orleans Jazz Hall of Fame)
