He was 88. Nello Santi was born on Sept. 22, 1931, in Adria, a small town south of Venice. Mr. Santi announced several times that he would retire to his home in Riehen, a small town near Basel, Switzerland. But he would then make himself available to conduct the Basel Radio Orchestra or other ensembles)
