Ukr. rad. ent︠s︡ykl.: v. 11, p. 427 (Uhniv; a city in Sokalʹsʹkyĭ raĭon in Lʹvivsʹka oblastʹ. 1st mentioned in sources of 1360; as part of Poland it was granted Magdeburg Law during the 15th cent. After the 1st partition of Poland in 1772 it was annexed by Austria-Hungary. In 1919 Poland seized Uhniv, but as part of Western Ukraine it was reunited with Soviet Ukraine in 1939)
