Robison, J.O. From the slums of Calcutta to the concert halls of London, 2019: page 3 (almost certainly born in 1929, contrary to many reference sources. There is no birth certificate, but Mayer's official record at the Royal Academy of Music program gives his birth date as October 28, 1929. The erroneous 1930 date may have been created so Mayer could qualify for the Bombay Madrigal Singers Competition in 1951)
