Oxford dictionary of national biography WWW site, 6 Aug., 2019 (Bayly, Lewis (c. 1575-1631), bishop of Bangor and devotional writer; probably born in Carmarthen; on 2 July 1615 he was admitted to Lincoln's Inn at the request of John Jeffreys; The following year he became a chaplain to the king and, in the face of opposition from Archbishop George Abbot, the marquess of Buckingham secured his election on 28 August to the bishopric of Bangor; he was consecrated on 8 December; came to make his will on 8 September 1631; died on 26 October and was buried in Bangor Cathedral)
