Calisphere, July 30, 2018 (Fletcher Harper Swift was born in New York City May 20, 1876; He was graduated from Dartmouth College in 1898; received his Bachelor of Divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in 1903, his Master of Arts degree from Columbia University in 1904 and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1905 from the same institution. Later, in 1933, Dartmouth College awarded him an honorary Doctor of Pedagogy degree. For forty-two years Professor Swift taught education in various universities and during thirty-seven of these years he was a full professor, sixteen years at the University of Minnesota and twenty-one at the University of California; Dr. Swift's special interest was in the field of school finance; Professor Swift's reputation as a scholar, however, will rest upon his monumental Studies in School Finance ... and his books on educational administration ... He wrote a host of other books, monographs, bulletins, articles and brochures; He died May 28, 1947, after a brief illness)
