NUCMC data from Maine Hist. Soc. for Muster rolls for the 1st Maine Cavalry Regiment, 1862-1863 (Organized in Augusta, Me., on Oct. 31, 1861 for three years. The original members were mustered out on Nov. 25, 1864 when their service was up, but later recruits, along with members of the 1st District of Columbia Cavalry and those who chose to reenlist, were retained in the regiment until its mustering out at Petersburg, Va., on Aug. 1, 1865)
