Encyclopedia of Holocaust literature, 2002: pages 103-104 (Renata Laqueur, born in 1919 in Brzeg, Poland; was arrested in Amsterdam on February 18, 1943 and sent to Westerbork, then deported to Bergen-Belsen where she began keeping a diary, which was one of the few diaries written in a Holocaust camp, not in a ghetto or in hiding. Her PhD dissertation was a scholarly study of diaries written in concentration camps which she completed in 1971 at New York University (written under the name Renata Laqueur Weiss).)
