100 Jahre Hessisches Landesmuseum Kassel, 2013: title page (Theodor Fischer) pages 14-17 (born May 28, 1862 in Schweinfurt, youngest of 6 children; abitur in 1880, and wished to be a painter, but because of familial pressure chose an architectural program at the TU Munich; obtained a position with the Berlin firm of Paul Wallot. and shortly before the state examination 1885 broke off studies, in order to participate in the competition for design of the Reichstag building; 1889 founded own architectural firm with Friedrich Richard (Fritz) Reuter in Dresden; 1892 returned to Munich and called 1893 to be director of the Stadterweiterungsbüro, also marrying Therese Huberti in the latter year; called to a teaching post, TU Stuttgart in 1901, in which position he developed the "Stuttgarter Schule" style of design; named as principal director of the Deutscher Werkbundes 1907; called to a professorship in Munich 1908, as well as further architectural projects; Fischer withdrew increasingly as post-World War political and economic difficulties overtook Germany; retired 1928, died Dec. 25, 1938)
