Wikipedia, June 27, 2022 (Segundo de Chomón; also Chomont or Chaumont, French; born 17 October 1871; died 2 May 1929; pioneering Spanish film director, cinematographer and screenwriter; produced many short films in France while working for Pathé Frères; frequent camera tricks and optical illusions; regarded as the most significant Spanish silent film director; born in Aragon, Spain; reportedly got into film through the efforts of his French actress wife, Julienne Mathieu; his most productive years as a filmmaker were 1907-1912; in 1910 he returned to Barcelona and started an independent production company, Iberico Films, which proved short-lived; in 1912 he accepted an invitation to make films in Italy; after 1917 he principally worked on creating visual effects for the films of others; was planning to get back into full-time film production on his own when he died of a heart attack at age 57)
