The Chief Executive is Nigel Crisp, the Permanent Secretary of the Dept. of Health. It has its own funding stream - Vote 1 funding, which comes direct from the Treasury. It has 4 Health and Social Care Directorates. These manage the Strategic Health Authorities, to which the NHS Trusts are accountable)
