(Volynskoĭ gubernīi) Ukr. rad. ent︠s︡ykl.: v.2, p. 367 (Volynsʹka hubernii︠a︡; established by Tsarist edict of 11-09-1797 which liquidated the former Volynsʹke namisnyt︠s︡tvo [no publs. in LC data base]; main city of the Volynsʹka hubernii︠a︡ was Z︠H︡ytomyr; with the peace treaty of 1921 much of the hubernii︠a︡ was absorbed by Poland. On 06-03-1925 the remaining areas of the Volynsʹka hubernii︠a︡ were liquidated and in its place were established 3 okruhs: Novohradsʹkyĭ, Z︠H︡ytomyrsʹkyĭ, and Shepetivsʹkyĭ [no publs. in LC data base].
