Sam Norman; in the 1980s she was a bilingual teacher in the Oakland, Calif., public schools; founded Piñata Publications; wrote, illustrated and published her own books designed to help Mexican American children identify with their culture; wrote Folk art traditions I, and Traditions II, for use by schoolteachers; moved to Santa Fe in 2005)
