Rad. ent︠s︡ykl. istoriï Ukraïny: v. 2, p. 481-482 (Kori︠u︡kivka, a city in Chernihivsʹka oblastʹ on the Brechi River. The city was established in 1657. Until 1782 it was part of the Chernihivsʹkyĭ polk; from 1782-1797 it belonged to the Novhorod-Siversʹke namisnyt︠s︡tvo; from 1782 until 1802 it was part of the Malorosiĭsʹka hubernii︠a︡; and from 1802 onward it became part of the Chernihivsʹka hubernii︠a︡. Soviet government was established in Jan. 1918, however in April 1918 Kori︠u︡kivka was seized by Austro-Hungarian forces, and later was occupied by Petliura's Directory in Dec. 1918. From 1923 Kori︠u︡kivka was part of the Snovsʹkyĭ okruh, and from 1925 to 1932 it was transferred to the Konotopsʹkyĭ okruh. Since 1932 it has belonged to the Chernihivsʹka oblastʹ. During WWII the Nazis shot 7,000 of Kori︠u︡kivka's citizens and burnt their bodies. The city was liberated on 11-19-1943. Kori︠u︡kivka was granted city status in 1958)
