Ternopilʹsʹka oblastʹ, 1973: p. 454-461 (Nove Selo, a village in Pidvolochysʹkyĭ raĭon first mentioned in historical sources of 1463 when it was part of Poland. It was liberated by B. Khmelnytsky's forces during the 1648-1654 war but by terms of the Andrusiv Peace Treaty of 1667 it was returned to Poland. During the 16th and 17th centuries Nove Selo was raided 18 times by Turco-Tatar forces. In 1772 Nove Selo was annexed by Austria. The village was ceded to Russia by terms of the 1810 Shenbrunsk Treaty but in 1815 it was regained by Austria. During WWI the village was fought over by Polish, Austro-Hungarian, Red and White Army forces. On 21 Sept. 1920 Polish forces seized Nove Selo and it remained part of Poland until Sept. 1939 when as part of Western Ukraine it was returned to the Ukrainian SSR)
