Special noteSaxe-Coburg-Gotha was created in 1826 from the union of Saxe-Gotha (minus Saxe-Altenberg) and Saxe-Coburg and became part of the German Empire in 1871. Saxe-Coburg-Gotha became part of the state of Thuringia in 1920, except for Coburg, which became part of Bavaria.
