Info. from the Embassy of Morocco, Feb. 98 (Koutoubia Mosque started in 1150 under the reign of Yacoub el Mansour and completed 40 years later; its minaret is one of the great Almohad towers; approx. 230 feet tall & 42 feet square; historical records suggest that the mosque was built at the center of booksellers' stall; most particular aspect of the Koutoubia is the the three copper balls located at the summit)
