Attended Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, then earned an LL.B. from Washburn College in Topeka, Kansas in 1917. Served in France during World War I, then began a law practice in Garden City. A Republican, he was elected to Kansas House of Representatives in 1920 where he served for three consecutive terms. Then ran successfully for the U.S. House of Representatives from Kansas in 1926 where he served fifteen consecutive terms. Returned to Garden City in 1956. Died there on May 16, 1970 at the age of 76.) |
