Born September 2, 1901 in Halstead, Kansas; played basketball in elementary, high school and a University of Kansas. Was a high school football, basketball, track and wrestling coach at high schools in Kansas and Iowa. Completed MA in Education from Columbia University Teachers College, attending from 1926-1929. Became basketball coach at University of Kentucky May 31, 1930. Retired at age 70. Rupp Arena at the University of Kentucky is named in his honor. Died December 10, 1977 and was buried in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, Ky.)
