He wrote "Aruba Dushi Tera", a waltz that is now the national anthem for Aruba and was long a rallying cry for separation from the Netherlands Antilles, which was achieved in 1986.

Padu's father was Henri Everard Lampe Zeppenfeldt and his mother was Ida Croes. His paternal grandparents were Hendrik Meinhardt Lampe and Sofía Romelia Zeppenfeldt Schotborgh; his maternal grandparents were Juan Chabaya Croes and Jeannetje Zeppenfeldt. He has two brothers named Edwin and Edmund. He is the second oldest of the three children.
