Kentucky encyclopedia, ©1992: page 568 (William Logan, U. S. Senator and judge, born in the fort at what is now Harrodsburg, Ky. Educated by tutors at St. Asaph, a fort established in 1775 near present-day Stanford, Ky. About 1798 the family settled in Shelby County, Ky. where he studied law. Was a member of the state legislature from Lincoln and Shelby counties. Appointed judge in the court of appeals in 1808 and in 1810-1812. Elected to U. S. Senate in 1818, serving from March 4, 1819 to May 28, 1820, when he resigned to run for state governor. Died at his home in Shelby County, Ky.)
