Washington place names, via WWW, Feb. 13, 2008: Pateros (Paternos [sic] is a community at the confluence of the Methow and Columbia Rivers six miles southwest of Brewster in south central Okanogan County. It is often referred to as the Gateway to Methow Valley. A settlement was est. in 1886 by Lee Ives and was called Ives [no publs. in OCLC database] or Ives Landing [no publs. in OCLC database]. On June 21, 1900 it was renamed Pateros for a town in south central Luzon, Philippine Islands)
