Wikipedia, November 8, 2018 Vendyl Jones (Vendyl Miller Jones (May 29, 1930-December 27, 2010) was an American Noahide scholar who directed archaeological searches for biblical artifacts such as the Ark of the Covenant. Vendyl was born in Sudan, Texas. He received his Bachelor's degree in Divinity, and a Master's degree in Theology from the Bible Baptist Seminary and studied with biblical archaeologist, W.F. Albright. Between 1955 and 1956, Jones was a pastor of the Dungan Chapel Baptist Church located on the border of Virginia and North Carolina. He resigned in October 1956 and began to study Judaism under rabbis in Greenville, NC. Vendyl lectured for the Biblical Research Society from 1964 to 1967. He became a Noahide and founded the Vendyl Jones Research Institutes. In 1967 he moved to Israel to attend the Hebrew University and he began to excavate in the Judean Desert, especially at Qumran. H spent much effort searching for the treasure of the Copper Scroll. There is controversy about whether or not he was the model for the main character of the Hollywood script of Raiders of the Lost Ark.)
