Following his university attendance, was a clerk in a mercantile business in Kansas City, quickly becoming partner, then returned to Las Vegas, N.M. where he eventually owned a wholesale grocery business, Brown and Manzanares Co. with branches in Soccorro and Las Vegas, N.M. and in Trinidad, Colorado. Nominated to territorial representative for N.M. to U.S. Congress by the 1882 Democratic party, where he served one term. Died in Las Vegas, N.M.)
