Wikipedia, Sept. 23, 2010 (Hollywood Rose; precursor group of Guns N' Roses; formed 1983, Los Angeles, Calif.; recorded album The roots of Guns N' Roses in 1984; changed name to Guns N' Roses, combining the names of L.A. Guns and Hollywood Rose, in 1985; also known as AXL, Rose) under Guns N' Roses (formed in early 1985 by Hollywood Rose members Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin, and L.A. Guns members Tracii Guns, Ole Beich, and Rob Gardner, creating its name by combining two of the group members' names) under L.A. Guns (The first incarnation of the group was formed, by Tracii Guns, in 1983 but disbanded in 1985 following its merger with fellow Los Angeles group Hollywood Rose, becoming the first lineup of Guns N' Roses. The same year, the group was reformed by Guns and singer Paul Black adding Mick Cripps and Nickey Alexander.)
