In 1949 the name was changed to "Cultuur- en Ontspannings Centrum (C.O.C.)". In the context of the greater openness in society towards homosexuality, this concealing name was changed in 1964 to the "Nederlandse Vereniging voor Homofielen COC". Because of name recognition, the abbreviation was retained, but the dots disappeared. In 1971 the organization was given the name "Nederlandse Vereniging tot Integratie van Homoseksualiteit COC". In 2001, the structure of associations with departments was changed to a federated structure with independent associations. The name of the national organization became "Federatie van Nederlandse Verenigingen tot Integratie van Homoseksualiteit - COC Nederland". When the statutes were modernized in 2017, the name was changed to "Federatie COC Nederland", or simply: "COC Nederland". The NVIH was henceforth omitted from the member associations) <https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/COC_Nederland> |
