Wikipedia WWW site, viewed Sept. 28, 2016: Max Pauly (b. 1 June 1907 in Wellseburen; d. 8 Oct. 1946 in Hamelin; was commandant of Stutthoff Concentration Camp, Sept. 1939-Aug. 1942; and Commandant of Neuengamme Concentration camps and the associated subcamps from Sept. 1942 until the liberation in May 1945. Was tried by the British for war crimes in the "Curio Haus" Trial in Hamburg, which lasted 18 March-13 May 1946. Pauly was found guilty and sentenced to death. He was executed by hanging in prison at Hamelin on 8 Oct. 1946)
