Biography/History noteWiktor Baworowski (1826-1894) was a bibliophile, patron of science, poet, translator, and land owner. He wrote under the literary pseudonym Wiktor z Baworowa, translating Byron's romantic works. He was well-educated first on his family estates and then in L'viv, and he briefly entered state service but left to govern family estates. He was a corresponding member of the Towarzystwa Naukowego Krakowskiego (Krakow Scientific Society) and founder of the Biblioteka Fundacyi W. hr. Baworowskiego, a large private library in L'viv.
