Washington post WWW site, viewed Aug. 25, 2022 (in obituary dated Aug. 24, 2022: Creed Taylor, an innovative force in the evolution of jazz who worked with John Coltrane, Ray Charles and many others and a popularizer of Brazilian music who oversaw the recording of such classics as "The Girl from Ipanema" that helped make bossa nova a worldwide phenomenon, died Aug. 22 in Winkelhaid, Germany. He was 93. Mr. Taylor had a broad musical impact: as a packager who helped introduce laminated covers and gatefold sleeves for LPs; as a producer with an ear for emerging talent and new trends; and as the founder of Impulse and CTI Records. Creed Taylor was born in Lynchburg, Va., on May 13, 1929)
