Norske Biografisk Leksikon WWW site, viewed March 18, 2024 (Heinrich August Grosch; graphic artist, art teacher and painter; born February 26, 1763 in Lübeck; he moved to Copenhagen in 1890 to study at the Academy of Fine Arts; he tried his hand at painting but first and foremost he thoroughly studied graphic techniques, including the new aquatint technique; in 1810 he received funds from King Frederik VI to visit Norway, during which he executed a number of drawings, and later painted 3 wall decorations for Christiansborg Palace based on them; in 1811 he moved to Norway; after a short stay in Christiania, he settled in Fredrikshald, where he taught drawing to craftsmen and ran a painting workshop; he was called to the capital in 1817 to lead the printing of new bank notes for Norges Bank; in 1819 he was hired as a teacher at kgl. Tegne- og Kunstskole and held this position until 1840; from 1822 he was also a member of the school board; he executed graphic works of varying character and also published several textbooks on drawing, calligraphy and embroidery; died July 6, 1843, in Christiania)
