Bikker, J. Willem Drost (1633-1659), 2004: Ecip text (It was not until 1992 that the mystery of Drost's early life was unravelled. In that year, Dudok van Heel pieced together the artist's identity and was able to sketch a picture of his family background. However, none of the documents brought to light by Dudok van Heel concerning ... Willem Janszn Drost specifically refer to him as an artist. More conclusive evidence that Dudok van Heel was correct is provided by the since discovered registration of the artist's burial in February 1659 (doc.no.2). In that document, the artist's age is given as 25, which means that he was, indeed, born in 1633; Drost has been confused with several other artists, including a Drost/e or Dorste buried in 1678)
