Wikipédia, slobodná encyklopédia, January 3, 2016: Gorazd Zvonický page (Gorazd Zvonický; real name: Andrej Šándor; born 29 June 1913 in Močarany [today part of Michalovce]; died 27 July 1995 in Rome; Slovak poet belonging to the Katolická moderna; Catholic priest, missionary, teacher, translator, and important worker among Slovak exiles; took final vows as a Salesian in 1940; ordained a priest in 1948; imprisoned by Communist Slovak authorities in April 1950; went into exile August 1950; after a short stay in Italy, worked in Buenos Aires; returned to Rome in 1963 as a member of the Slovenský ústav sv. Cyrila a Metoda v Ríme, where he taught humanities at an associated high school; wrote a number of poetic works, chiefly in exile; also translated poetry from Italian into Slovak)
