Italian Wikipedia, January 23, 2018 (Giovanni Colonna (Rome, circa 1295-Avignon, July 3, 1348) was an Italian cardinal of the Catholic Church, named by Pope John XXII, December 18, 1327; son of Stefano Colonna il Vecchio; was canon of the cathedral of Bayeux, France, and prevost of the cathedral of Mainz, Germany; also protonotary apostolic; participated in the conclave of 1334 that elected Pope Benedict XII, and the conclave of 1342 that elected Pope Clement VI; named archpriest of the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran, Rome, in 1342; in 1330, after taking minor orders, Francesco Petrarca entered in his service as family chaplain)
