(Cinema organ (theatre organ): a type of organ designed to take the place of instrumental players in early 20th-cent. cinemas and theatres; developed in the U.S. by the Wurlitzer Co. in conjunction with Robert Hope-Jones; in the U.S., the term "theatre organ" is preferred.
