ITIS, Nov. 29, 2007 (Insectivores: invalid; valid names: Afrosoricida, Erinaceomorpha, Soricomorpha) August 23, 2018 (Insectivore; Taxonomic Status: invalid; Common name: insectivores) (Soricomorpha; order; Synonym: Insectivora)
Wikipedia, Nov. 29, 2007 (The order Insectivora is a now-abandoned biological grouping within the class of mammals ... Erinaceomorpha and Soricomorpha now replace Insectivora; the order Soricomorpha ("Shrew-form") is a biological clade within the class of mammals. In previous years it formed a significant group within the Insectivora order. However, that order was shown to be paraphyletic and various new orders were split off from it, including Afrosoricida (tenrecs and golden moles), Macroscelidea (elephant shrews), and Erinaceomorpha (hedgehogs and gymnures); the order Soricomorpha consists of four families: Soricidae, Talpidae, Solenodontidae, and Nesophontidae)

2018038627: Woodman, Neal. American recent Eulipotyphla, 2018: ECIP galley
New World Encyclopedia website, Aug. 14, 2018 (Soricomorpha is considered to be paraphyletic and often is replaced in taxonomic schemes with the order Eulipotyphla, with includes members of Soricomorpha and the family Erinaceidae (hedgehogs and gymnures or moonrats))
Wikipedia, Aug. 14, 2018 (Classification: Class: Mammalia; Order: Eulipotyphla; Families: Amphilemuridae (extinct), Nesophontidae (extinct), Solenodontidae, Talpidae, Soricidae, Erinaceidae)
Email from Neal Woodman, Research Biologist and Curator of Mammals, National Museum of Natural History, Aug. 15, 2018 (The International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1999) does not address standards for the use of names higher than the family level, and in the absence of such formal guidance, I use the name whose original composition most closely matches the monophyletic extant group. In this case, it is the ordinal grouping that includes Erinaceidae, Solenodontidae, Soricidae, and Talpidae and that excludes other families that would render the order polyphyletic. Given this criterion, Eulipotyphla is the only acceptable name for the order)
