Lippincott: under Kingston (Ont.) (Frontenac built fort (1673) on site of Indian settlement of Cataraqui; subsequently La Salle became seigneur of fort and surrounding region and named it Fort Frontenac. Destroyed in King William's War, fort was rebuilt by Frontenac (1695). It was captured and destroyed (1758) by Gen. John Bradstreet; present city was founded 1784 by United Empire Loyalists)
