- A collection of nearly 4,000 Web sites, archived daily between July 1, 2002 and November 30, 2002, covering selected primary and general elections held in the United States: mid-term elections for members of the U.S. Congress (House and Senate), gubenatorial elections, and mayoral elections in 15 major U.S. cities, including Washington, D.C. The types of Web sites archived include: candidate Web pages, election-related Web sites published by individual citizens, Web sites for financial contributors registered with the Federal Elections Commission and national partisan groups, election board Web sites from various jurisdictions, political party Web sites at the national level (all registered parties) and Democratic and Republican party sites at the state level, press Web sites including national and major metropolitan newspapers in each state, selected alternative and specialized press Web sites, selected political portal sites, public opinion research sites, and other miscellaneous Web sites related to the election.
