- Lecture titled "New England Balladry," delivered by Helen Hartness Flanders with musical illustrations of ballads from the Helen Hartness Flanders Collection at Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vermont, performed by singers Elmer George and Asa Davis of Vermont, and by Charles Finnemore of Maine. Documentation includes a copy of the program for the lecture and concert; a review by Glenn Dillard Gunn; notices in the Library of Congress Information Bulletin; and a recording log and audition notes made during the transfer of the discs to digital sound files. The lecture was sponsored by the Folklore Section of the Music Division with funding from the Louis Charles Elson Memorial Fund, and the recordings were accessioned in the Archive of Folk Song in 1948.
