As the film begins, America's Cup defender, Columbia can be seen. From camera right comes a large sidewheel propelled passenger excursion boat, completely obscuring the Columbia; but, as the film ends, the Columbia, under full sail, is again in view. Filmed on October 5 or 6, 1899, before the first race, which was held on October 16, 1899.
